Randall Montgomery was appointed Principal Tuba of the Milwaukee Symphony in 2005. He previously held the Principal Tuba positions of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the New World Symphony in Miami, FL. Prior moving to Milwaukee, he lived in Boston where he performed hundreds of concerts as a regular substitute with the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops orchestras. He was also a member of the internationally acclaimed quintet, Boston Brass.

Randall has served as a guest performer with numerous ensembles including the Chicago Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Chicago Chamber Musicians, and Rhythm & Brass. He has performed as a soloist with the Milwaukee Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, New World Symphony, Eastman Wind Ensemble, and with Dave Brubeck at the Newport Jazz Festival.

He completed his undergraduate studies at the Eastman School of Music as a student of Cherry Beauregard and Don Harry. He earned his Master of Music degree at the New England Conservatory in Boston where he studied with Chester Schmitz and Norman Bolter of the Boston Symphony.
