Randall Montgomery is currently in his first season as Principal Tuba of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Originally from Greenville, Illinois, Mr. Montgomery studied at the Eastman School of Music earning a Bachelors Degree in tuba performance and music education. He completed his Masters Degree at the New England Conservatory in Boston, where he is also a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree. An active orchestral and solo performer, he has performed hundreds of concerts with the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops orchestras, including the "Evening at Pops" national broadcasts on PBS as well as the pre-game show at Super Bowl XXXVI.
Mr. Montgomery was Principal Tubist of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra for two seasons and has also held the Principal Tuba chair of the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida. He was a member of the internationally acclaimed quintet, Boston Brass, with whom he toured the United States extensively and recorded two CDs. As a soloist he has been featured with the Rochester Philharmonic, New World Symphony, Eastman Wind Ensemble, and at various music conferences. He has taught low brass at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, Boston College, Roberts Wesleyan College, Eastern Nazarene College, Hopkinton High School (Hopkinton, MA), the Walnut Hill School, and New England Conservatory's Preparatory Division.
