Weddings & Commitment Ceremonies:

Congratulations on your engagement! We in the Milwaukee Brass Quintet are honored that you are considering us to help provide you with the music for your special day, traditional or non-traditional. Music holds incredible power to magnify the magical moments of your wedding, and also helps provide a beautiful context for its meaningful rituals.

We will be happy to assist you by pointing you in the direction of certain pieces for the various parts of your ceremony, but ultimately it really is - as it should be - your choice. Ceremonial music, like all the other aspects of your union, should reflect those for which the ceremony is held. We’d be honored to assist you in making your wedding music your own.

"One of the best parts of our wedding ceremony (in July of 2004) was the music – it added such majesty and powerful meaning to our day. As a Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra musician and brass player, I wanted to hire the best brass quintet I could find. THREE of the players that played at my wedding are now members of the Milwaukee Brass Quintet (Don, Mark, and David)!! The only reason I couldn't hire Randy is that he hadn't moved to Milwaukee from Boston yet. You wouldn’t believe how incredible the quintet sounded at my wedding!"

~ Darcy Hamlin, MBQ Hornist and Quintet Coordinator, married 7/17/2004

We have so much more information to share with you to help you plan your special day. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Wedding Guide

The Prelude
Prelude music sets the mood, and provides a backdrop for the guests’ arrival. Special pieces may be programmed for the seating of family and honored guests. An example of a prelude piece is Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.”

The Processional
Processional music is the brilliant formal announcement that the wedding party has arrived. Separate pieces are possible for the general procession and the bride’s procession. One of the most popular processionals is Clarke’s “Trumpet Voluntary.”

Interlude and Communion Music Music can provide opportunity for reflection at other times in the service, such as between readings or during the lighting of ceremonial candles.

The Recessional Directly following the announcement of marriage, recessional music expresses the exuberance and hope for the future of the couple. Two particularly suitable pieces for this part of the wedding are Mouret’s “Rondeau” (known to many as the theme of “Masterpiece Theatre”), and the Hornpipe from Handel’s “Water Music,” which has been played at many British royal weddings.

The Postlude Postlude music allows guests to leave the ceremony while continuing to revel in the emotion of the moment
